Heading on South in October 2016

From California we headed south east into Nevada to spend a few days at one of our favorite RV parks, Lakeside RV in Pahrump, NV.  Lunch out with friends Peggy & Elaine was the highlight of Saturday!

Sunday was a monumental day too!  Dear friend Robbie had turned 39+ the day before and she had been treated to a surprise vacation in Vegas by her son and daughter.  Before arriving in Pahrump we had NO idea that their family was headed for Nevada and  they were so close to us.  With some sneaky texts between Robbie's daughter and us we were able to surprise Robbie in Starbucks at their hotel on Sunday morning.  You can imagine Ken and me hiding behind a pillar and then Robbie "accidentally...with her daughter's prompting"...just walking "into" us!  I think everyone in Starbucks  jumped when the shriek rang out :-)!!

The trek goes on as we head on south.  Does this photo give you a hint of what came next?  Actually when we came down an 8% grade from the Tahoe area and smoked the brakes was the precursor to a decision to visit Redlands RV in Redlands, CA.  Let's just say this was an EXPENSIVE week but we are now safer as we travel the byways and highways of the USA.

Heading further on south we arrived at  the Vista, CA home of Mary's family just in time to celebrate her birthday.  So, on Oct. 4 while our grand daughters were in school, the rest of us gave Mary her wish...a visit to a beautiful garden in Encinitas. The location was right on the Pacific Ocean and the view was spectacular.  I'll share several photos as they give perspective on the exquisite beauty of the area.

The final event of the birthday evening was enjoying a delicious dinner together after which the whole family sang Happy Birthday!  The following day we headed on to our house in Arizona for the RV Snowbird Season.
