On the way east we stayed outside of Dayton, OH and visited the National Museum of the US Air Force...a fascinating place! The Omni-Max Theatre productions, every kind of aircraft imaginable, and the displays from former wars were among the memorable viewings. Below Ken is learning about the Bocscar (plane)and Fat Boy (yellow bomb) that ended WWII!
We arrived in Washington, DC on Sunday, Oct. 22. Tuesday we took our first sightseeing tour to the Smithsonian Institute. How to describe the many, many displays...there is nothing within culture, science, history, etc. that is not covered!
On Wednesday, we had a wonderful tour of the US Capital. We had communicated with Oregon Senator Gordon Smith's Office. We were treated to a wonderful personally guided tour by one of his delightful staff members, Brianna.
She is a recent grad from an Oregon University and gave us the royal treatment! It was fun just to ride the tram from the Senator's office underground to the Capital and hear about all the details that one would never know without her background! Viewing the photographs and statutes, sitting in the actual House of Representatives, and now having that personal perspective when we see Capital events in the news were highlights.
A Boomer Mini-rang! Parked next to us in their RV at Greenbelt Park, MD are Brooks and Brenda Rimes. They are from the Buffalo, NY area but are also Escapee Boomers. They were camped at Quartzsite last year too. We appreciated following them to downtown on our first excursion so we would learn the system for using for using the Metro!

Today, Thur., Oct. 26, we arose bright and early to tour the White House at 9:30 a.m. We were allowed only to take car keys and our ID. No cameras, cell phones, purses, etc. are allowed. Thus, our photos from there are only in our memories!
