Gulf State Park Adventures - Alabama
On Jan. 12th we left Florida and arrived at Gulf State Park near Gulf Port, Alabama. This area was devastated by Hurricane Ivan several years ago. There is still evidence along the beach. There are new high rises being constructed on the beach. We understand that many of the small beach cottage owners have sold out to the big corps.

Our RV Park was also hard hit. The google photo of the park shows lots of trees. Today the vegetation is far and few between and there is evidence of many tree stumps! I'm also intrigued with the signs posted in the park. Hmm...guess we won't go for midnight strolls.

Today we drove about 20 miles back to Florida to Pensacola to tour the Naval Aviation Museum. A film at their IMAX threatre titled "Hurricane on the Bayou" about Katrina was very interesing too.
Pensacola is the home base for the Blue Angels so it was fun to see the planes "up close and personal". It is amazing how cramped the cockpits seem to be.
The display of vintage planes as well as some fairly recent planes was amazing and Ken was truly in seventh heaven!!!!!!
