Spring into Summer 2012

Following Las Vegas, we joined friend Rich at Rabbit Hole, NV for some fun "playing in the dirt"!  As a hobby we all enjoy the fun of prospecting for gold.  This location is remote enough that there is no cellular service and very few people pass by in a day.  Rich did see a beautiful wild horse and a few antelope visited the area. 

Upon heading on north to Oregon we fulfilled a plan that we had dreamed up several times but it hadn't worked out previously.  We went  as far as Thief Valley Reservoir and parked the motor home there for a week.  As you can plainly see, the trout fishing was spectacular. 

 

Fear not...there will be lots of Ken's famous smoked trout dip for next winter's happy hours in Arizona!

 

Upon arriving back in La Grande we were greeted by new residents.  Our greater horned owls had again had a creative winter with the arrival of these twin babies...probably toddler age now that it is June.  They still "squeak" at night but we love having them reside on our farm. 

 

Memorial Weekend Joanne took off for Bellevue, WA where she had fun babysitting and being with her three daughters and families.  Here the baby girls who are now turning one year old entertain the entire family.  Aren't they living dolls?

 

June 7th was another very special day in 2012 as Joanne's oldest grandson, Trevor, graduated in Beaverton, OR.  He's looking forward to leaving home in about a month to begin a training program down on the Oregon Coast.

 

It was a super weekend as grand daughter Elena celebrated her 1st birthday.  It took a little while to get the hang of putting one's fingers in the icing but soon she was a pro!  Her #1 candle has some family history...it had adorned a previous cake.  The #1 was part of the #100 on the cake we enjoyed when our La Grande farm celebrated it's century farm status (1904 to 2004).

 

Another celebration included the birthday of daughter Melissa (left).  Melissa and her baby have back to back birthdays so June will always be a joyful month!  We figured this was the first time in 20 years that mom Joanne and daughter had been together on her birthday.  A special treat was sharing her birthday luncheon with dear friends, the Creamers, who had been Melissa's 3 yr. old Sunday School teachers when we lived in Beaverton.  Daughter Michelle also joined us for this fun celebration.
