Fall Fun 2012

Is it not true that many travel all over the USA to see the sites but miss what is in their own backyard?  That's why we spent one afternoon in Baker City, OR at the Oregon Trail Interpretive Center.  The history of our area is indeed fascinating.

Upon leaving home for our 2012-2013 trek, we spent the first night in The Dalles, OR with good friends Gary and Vonda.  The RV site they shared is in front of their new home...it is high  on the hilltop overlooking the beautiful Columbia River Gorge and The Dalles Dam.  Indeed it was a spectacular view both during the day and with night-time lights.

During our visit to the Portland area, we had the opportunity to visit with many friends and with family.  Here Michelle and family join us for an evening meal on the patio at our RV park.

For this grandma, the SKYPE visits with little grand daughters are great but there is nothing like "hands on".  It was fun to spend one evening with Melissa and family.  Oh my goodness...this little one no longer walks...she RUNS!

Upon heading west we spent a day in McMinnville at the Evergreen Air and Space Museum.  We've visited these museums around the country and are always intrigued.  This one is especially family-friendly with a waterpark, play yard climbing areas, and an indoor ride.  Then there is the Theatre!  Oh my goodness...we saw the Fighter Pilot movie which gives the opportunity to get the feel and the views!     

The Spruce Goose...largest aircraft ever made...is housed here.  This photo doesn't begin to give perspective.  The wing span and tail are way beyond the scope of our camera.  Of course Kenneth had increased blood pressure during this visit...every pilot's dream to view all the planes from many eras.

Upon arriving in Lincoln City we've enjoyed great weather and the beauty of the coast.  This weekend was a Veteran's Celebration with the 1000 flags flying with the ocean in the backdrop. 

It has especially been fun meeting the McClinton and Hurst families here to share in the fall time outing.  Here we had a delightful lunch at the local "Mo's".
