Super September 2009

The month began with an opportunity to give "end of summer hugs". Grandson Adam drove with Grandma up to Seattle to visit his cousin Harlow and her family.

Visitors to the Parsons Garden Inn were friends Gary and Vonda. The guys were all smiles after a couple visits to Thief Valley Reservoir. As you can see, the fishing was great! A 20" Rainbow trout is beautiful indeed.

We enjoyed camping together with friends Rich and Debi in the beautiful woods near Phillips Reservoir (SW of Baker City, OR)during Labor Day weekend.

As members of the Escapees Prospector's and Metal Detectors, we were intrigued with the history around Sumpter, OR. This dredge is huge! We can only imagine the ingenuity and dedication of those early gold miners.

Rich and Debi came home to La Grande with us for about a week. From the attire, would you ever guess who had just come to the west coast from Florida?

This past week we have spent at the annual gathering of retirees from the WA State Patrol. About 80 of us attended this year's event in Prosser, WA where Ken had served as a trooper during most of his career.

We served as activities chairmen with friends Dave and Tillie. The group was so congenial and many people helping with the various roles...socials, meals, fun & games, etc... made it a super time for all.

Among the highlights of the Gathering were visiting the local wineries of this Yakima Valley locale with our friends.

The extra bonus for us coming to Prosser included visits with Paul and Jon's families!
