Heading South in Fall 2013

With anticipation for another exciting year, we headed out from La Grande, OR on Oct. 3rd, a beautiful autumn day.
Our first stop was a surprise party for friends Gary & Vonda in The Dalles, OR.  The trip west  down the Columbia River was absolutely breath-taking!  It is hard to duplicate the beauty of the NW.

Our friends had just left our home a few days previously.  We'd hugged them good bye  and literally lied as we told them we'd see them next Jan. in Arizona.  What fun to show up at their 50th anniversary party with many, many other friends and family from all over the USA!  Their 3 daughters pulled off a party they will all remember forever!

We then headed toward Bend, OR and south to Diamond Lake,  OR for about nine days of fun fishing.  As you  can tell from Ken's attire, it was brrrrrrrr cold quite a few of the days.  Nights got down in the 20's.  What spectacular scenery though!  There were truly "calendar perfect" views in all directions.

For all our friends that are expecting some smoked trout at happy hours this winter, Ken did  his job!  His pole in our boat was definitely  the most desired by  these gorgeous Rainbows!

However...Joanne did catch at least one each day...AND....

even this gorgeous 17"er that was likely a 2 1/2 lb er :-)

Check out the following for a 1 min. ride on Diamond Lake in Oct. 2013!
