February/March 2011 in Sunny Arizona
Early February we enjoyed the gathering of the retired WA State Patrol in Florence. As always, it's great to greet friends one has known for many years.

Our Arizona City community friendships have experienced many occasions to celebrate. This evening we commemorated Mary's xx birthday as well as Ray & Mary's up-coming 50th anniversary.

Becoming members of the Chamber of Commerce has also given us opportunities to meet new friends and support our community. Arizona City Days is the Chamber's annual fundraiser event. We spent the morning as monitors on the 4th hole at the AZ Country Club watching for a hole in one. Sorry...no new cars will be awarded at this year's event!
The next weekend we joined our friends in helping with the AZ City Days events...Ken with the parade line-up and Joanne at the Chamber booth selling raffle tickets. Highlight of the parade was a fly-over by World War I air craft.
One fun event was a ride on the Copper Spike Train Excursion at Globe, which is in the mountains east of Phoenix.
Our Saskatchewan friends who are Arizona City neighbors joined us for the picturesque ride!
Though our tickets were for the lounge car, someone exited half way through the ride so we also spent time in the dome liner car.
Our planning for the front yard at our AZ home has finally emerged into a new look! The former "rock yard" is now transformed into a landscaped area with patio where we can enjoy many a chat with friends and neighbors. This brings our winter projects to completion!
