Winter 2014 in Arizona

Friends Gary and Vonda joined us for a few days in January on their trek from  the NW to Louisiana where they will be volunteering for MMAP (Mobile Missionary Assistance Program) .  You can see their motor home out on the street all hooked up and ready to head out!  We left Arizona City that same morning for a 10- day trip to Yuma, Quartzsite, and the greater Phoenix area.

Do you notice this BIG GRIN on Ken's face?  I'm sure the Sea Hawks  heeded his "12th man wisdom" and cheering during the big game on Feb. 2.  Can you believe it?  That is definitely a WIN for the Super Bowl records and a terrific memory at the Parsons' home!

One of our big neighborhood activities is working with many families (40+ individuals on the list) in our area of Arizona City to do hands on clean up!  This includes picking up litter, trimming up trees, and removing dead brush on vacant lots that are great eye sores in our friendly community.  Here's an example of the beginning of our latest project.

On Tuesday mornings, friends gather to work for 2-3 hours.  Here our friend Julie joins  Ken and 18 other men and women to trim up and burn the trash.  (Non-burnables are placed in garage cans.)

Two hours later this is what the lot looks like.  We are preparing for Arizona City Daze celebration in a  couple weeks and want our community to took spiffy!

This week we've also enjoyed a visit from CA friends Joyce and Gay.  This particular day we  visited the Casa Grande Ruins over in Collidge, AZ.  The museum, lecture on AZ National Parks and Monuments, and exploring the actual area of the ruins was most interesting.

It was enjoyable to go shopping, have lunch out, watch expert "jewelry making", and share our home with our friends during this visit!
